GSX 2024, hosted by ASIS International, will be held from September 23-25 this year in Orlando, Florida. GSX brings together many professionals across the security industry including Securitas, of course (come say hi at our booth #1400).

Meet up with Securitas at GSX and listen to our experts

We’re particularly excited to spotlight our very own Antonia Elliott (VP of Talent Development) and Mike Evans (Director Risk Intelligence Center), who are among the many top subject matter experts that will be speaking at this year’s event.

Breaking barriers to security careers

Date & time: Tuesday, Sep. 24th, 10:00 – 11:00 AM EST

Antonia Elliott will kick off our panel series with an empowering session on “Breaking Barriers to Security Careers with Integrated Development.” Despite the growing demand for skilled security professionals, there is a perception that security roles are merely entry-level and less favorable than long-term careers. This misconception contributes to high turnover rates and undermines the industry’s ability to address emerging risks with a diverse and experienced talent pool.

Antonia will explore how organizations can address these career progression barriers in this session by implementing a robust leadership development program. She will discuss strategies for better onboarding, upskilling, and leveraging technological tools to empower security professionals at all levels. Antonia will also highlight how integrating leadership development programs into daily operations helps advance individual career paths and aligns with broader business strategies.

Additionally, three other remarkable leaders will join Antonia for a panel discussion. Misty Savage (VP of Training & Development, Global Clients Americas) brings a wealth of experience and leadership to her role. Since beginning her career as a security officer in 2002, Misty has climbed the ranks through various positions, demonstrating her ability to help drive growth and development within the company. Her leadership is further

evidenced by her active role with ASIS and designation as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP).

Tommy Zarna (VP of Client Solutions) will share his insights with Misty and Antonia. With over 12 years in the security industry in executive leadership roles, Tommy’s strategic vision and dedication have earned him recognition as one of Security System’s News’ “40 Under 40” and a workplace certification of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. His role involves helping drive business growth and cultivating client-focused teams.

Finally, Silvia Portillo (Area VP) started as a security officer in 1999. She has risen through the ranks to oversee one of our largest offices in the U.S., overseeing over 1,7000 security officers. Silvia is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Chiefs Special Agent Association, highlighting her commitment to being an active leader in the security industry.

Antonia's session is essential for creating a more inclusive security workforce. Take advantage of this opportunity to gain insights into developing a career-focused approach that helps benefit both individuals and organizations.

Building intelligence-led security: how to integrate risk intelligence across your organization

Date & Time: Tuesday, Sep. 24th, 11:15 – 12:15 PM EST

Mike Evans will discuss how integrating risk intelligence into security operations can help enhance overall security and business decision-making. Mike will discuss leveraging data and intelligence to drive more proactive and informed security measures.

As organizations face increasingly complex security challenges, Mike’s session will provide valuable strategies for successfully integrating intelligence across organizations to create more effective and valuable security frameworks. Using real-world examples, discover how to effectively execute the essential stages of the intelligence cycle: direction, collection, analysis, and dissemination.

Additionally, Mike will dive into the human element in a technology-driven intelligence landscape, focusing on applying critical thinking to gather data and develop actionable insights through intelligence. This presentation is important for those looking to advance their security strategies through data-driven insights and comprehensive risk management.
