Parsippany, NJ – December 9, 2024 – Securitas Recognized by U.S. Government for Outstanding Climate Leadership

Securitas, a global leader in intelligent security solutions, has been named one of the top climate leaders among the U.S. government’s largest 200 suppliers.

This recognition highlights the company’s exceptional commitment to sustainability and its proactive steps toward combating climate change.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work we’re doing to build a safer and more sustainable world,” says President and CEO Magnus Ahlqvist. “As a global organization operating in 44 markets, we have a responsibility to lead by example – and we’re honored to be recognized for our efforts in this area. My hope is that our actions not only make an impact but also inspire others to join us in creating a future we can all be proud of.”

Securitas stands out as one of only 40 suppliers to achieve all four climate action benchmarks established by the U.S. government. These include:

  • Disclosing comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data.
  • Setting ambitious, science-based emissions reduction targets validated by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). In December 2023, Securitas became the first global security solutions company to have its climate targets validated, committing to a substantial reduction of its emissions, and taking action to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
  • Transparently reporting climate-related financial risks.
  • Actively working toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Another industry-leading initiative – led by the Securitas Technology business – aims at promoting environmentally sustainable solutions in the electronic security sector. As part of the initiative, Securitas Technology now incorporates greenhouse gas emissions data into new sales proposals in the United States and Canada, empowering clients to make informed decisions about their environmental impact.

“These initiatives are just a few examples of how we’re putting action behind our commitment to reduce our climate impact and drive meaningful progress,” says Chief Ethics and Sustainability Officer Sune Chabert Larsen. “Whether it’s by setting bold emissions-reduction targets, collaborating with our technology partners to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain, or driving industry change, we’re committed to doing our part to secure a more sustainable future for everyone.”

This accolade underscores Securitas’ dedication to integrating environmental responsibility into its business practices. By adopting cutting-edge technologies and operational efficiencies, the company is paving the way for sustainable innovation in the security industry.

Securitas’ efforts are part of its broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, which emphasizes collaboration with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to address global climate challenges.
